The Challenge

A new tour planning agency based in Bali, Indonesia approached Das Design Studios with a blank canvas — they needed not only a catchy brand name but a visual identity that would resonate with a niche target: groups of friends who love fun, travel, and water-based adventures. The challenge? Create a name and logo that’s witty, playful, and instantly memorable, while appealing to a younger, travel-hungry demographic without falling into cliché “tropical tour” branding.

The Approach

We kicked things off with a creative naming sprint. After exploring multiple name concepts, the client enthusiastically picked our top suggestion — “Hippos on Holiday”. The name playfully nods to hippos’ natural love for water, while evoking the carefree energy of group getaways. Once the name was locked in, we brought the vibe to life through branding.

For the logo, we selected the Lostina font — a quirky, rounded typeface full of vacation vibes. To inject personality, we transformed the second “O” in “Hippos” into a plump, cartoon hippo belly, standing upright with a wave and rocking sunglasses — the ultimate mascot for chill, splash-filled fun. The tagline, “Let’s get
herd there!”, sealed the deal with a clever nod to group travel and the social nature of hippos.

The Outcome

The result was a brand identity that immediately captures attention, tells a story, and sparks smiles. The client loved the playful logo, creative wordplay, and character-driven branding. Most importantly, the name and visuals stood out in the crowded tour and travel market. Hippos on Holiday now has a vibrant, distinctive identity that resonates with their water-loving audience and sets the tone for unforgettable group travel experiences.
